Manaus area (Amazonas state) One of the richest birding areas in the world, with over 600 species recorded. The city, located at the confluence of the Río Negro and the Amazon, is a major port. The avifaunas on the north and south banks of the river, and of the Mancapurú Peninsula are all different. Localize endemics include White-winged Potoo, Chestnut-headed Nunlet, and Klage’s Antwren. Other endemics include Zimmer’s Woodcreeper, Tail-banded Hornero, and Glossy Antshrike. There are 3 Curassows, 2 Trumpeters, 4 Manakins, and 30 sorts of Antbirds. The birdlists are much too long to be even well sampled here.
